Allias Bushnell House Annex Collection

Allis-Bushnell House Annex Collection
The MHS Annex is a rustic addition to the small complex of buildings at the Allis-Bushnell House Museum. In this charming space, a dedicated volunteer member of the Madison Historical Society has arranged an intriguing series of displays that reflect Madison’s past.

Among these special relics of history are the tools and implements of Madison farms and fisheries. Ingenious and timesaving domestic gadgets as well as occupational technology offer a glimpse into the nature of labor and industry both within and outside of the home.

The collection also includes shipwright’s tools, maritime implements, and nautical equipment. Here too are ship models, the most notable being the USS Monitor, the famed ironclad warship of the Civil War.

The Annex is open whenever the Allis-Bushnell House is open, and it is included in school tours throughout the year. It can also be opened by appointment.
